Your Training Will Never Leave You But…

Your training will never leave you but you could get very, very rusty.  That is okay though as you still have your abilities.  Through the years I have known so many IRT practitioner’s who have had to take a break for whatever life reason.  Some times work, family or another reason has gotten in the way and training has had to take a back seat.  This is 100% okay.  Hey we all have things that change our routine at times.  I have also known guys who have had to use their skills in a moment of violence or in a moment of extreme action and those skills came back.  Each one of them said they were a bit rusty but in the end they just let their training take over.  It will be there for you!  Several guys working in a profession where you have to arrest someone regularly have thanked me repeatedly for all of the low line and joint manipulation that we do as it has immensely helped them in surprising people and allowed them to follow through with the arrest.  These individuals utilize their skills daily and IRT plays a big part in what they do.  We also have had several people including myself take a nasty fall and have to do a breakfall or roll to save their skin.  Each time they have come through with flying colors.  Literally without a scratch.  That is amazing because we will all fall at some point in our life.  It is important to train regularly but know that even if you have to take a short break that your skills are still there!  They will protect you when you need it!

See You On The Mats!
