Real Violence Is Really Messy…

Real Violence is really messy.  Let that sink in!  It never is just like you trained in the Training Hall.  No instead it is usually some kind of variation or outright just ugly.  That is okay!  Embrace the fact that it might not look exactly like you practiced but… if you are successful then that is really what counts!  I look at recorded video attacks regularly and almost always you see someone take a swing or stab someone utilizing surprise.  Ambush…  This is important for you to remember and it is so important that you can see and feel threat indicators when a situation is about to happen.  Working in a professional position where violence can happen at any moment and where sucker punches are the norm.  Seeing and feeling when it is about to happen is very, very important.  You need to pick up the subtle and not so subtle cues.  The following video is very important to watch:

No matter what you practice make sure that you train hard and put serious effort into what you do.  Work your skill sets, your attributes and of course your cardio.  Understand that if you are in a violent situation it may not be just like your training but that your training and will power will get you through it!  Just because real violence is messy doesn’t mean you will not succeed!  Instead your training, your attribute building, your cardio will see you through it!  Spot the warning signs early and hopefully you are ready or can avoid it!
