Mental toughness is one of those must have traits that will complement your physical attributes. This is what really separates a great Martial Practitioner from an average one. I have met people with excellent skills and attributes that were weak mentally. They did not have mental toughness and it showed. I would have very little confidence having them at my back. I have also met people who were 120 lb’s soaking wet but they were really mentally tough and simply bad assed individual’s. So how do you get mentally tough? Simple, you have to test yourself with obstacles and succeed in overcoming those obstacles. If you do this you will get mentally tougher. You will prepare yourself and become mentally tough. Recently I watched a group go through some extremely tough times in training. They were mentally and physically pushed to the limit and their breaking points. They did however succeed in their endeavors and they in the end they were mentally tough. Your mental toughness is important so that when you do encounter a violent situation you won’t freeze. No, instead you will succeed and overcome your obstacle. Focus on being mentally tough. You may just need it!
