Jerson “Nene” Tortal who has never slacked off in his training!
Are you training hard enough? Is your training going to be enough in a moment of violence? I have had the pleasure recently of watching some fairly skilled martial practitioners who operate in a violence profession practice here in Las Vegas. Some were really working hard and some not so much. These individuals who were not working that hard will have to deal with violence in the near future. It is a given that they will use their training soon. However, some of them are just going through the motions. They might be in for a rude shock the next time they have to utilize these skills. As martial practitioners preparing for a potential violent confrontation it should be understood that we probably won’t get to pick the time or place where the violence will happen. No, we need to be prepared at all times! This means we need to be training regularly and we must ensure that we get enough technical training as well as muscular and cardiovascular training. If you are really putting in the work, you will make sure that you are practicing your martial skills. You will also then make sure you get your weight lifting in as well as your running, biking, swimming, etc. for cardiovascular health. Regularly you should evaluate your training and determine if you are training hard enough to maintain a “ready state” for that moment of violence. If you are kudo’s to you! However, my experience is that very few people really are. Most are just getting by and some are going through the motions. Do not be the person “going through the motions!” Instead take control and ownership and make sure you are training hard enough!
See You On The Mats!!!
