  1. BJJ says:

That low guard pass will get you swept or triangle choked very quickly. It’s very easy to pop off the single grip (grab with 2 hands and jerk upward) on the belt and pull into a triangle trap or armbar or sweep.

  2. Brian VanCise says:

No doubt that is always a possibility. It is also a possibility that after being hit in the groin the person’s ability to sweep, think, etc. is minimized for a time. Real time, real world with a groin strike this pass is bloody effective. It also keeps someone from being able to come up because of the one arm and the groin strike. It also protects your eyes from being thumb gouged which is very important during the real deal! Most two arm passes with no strike do not address this issue and it is a weakness. Yet there is always the possibility that you could get swept. Still I play with high level BJJ guy’s all the time (heck I am a BJJ guy) and they have serious issues when I use strikes to the groin in keeping their game going. Of course if they srike me in the groin I have issues too. 🙂 Just remember for every move their is a counter and then a counter and a counter and so on. It really is never ending!

    There simply are no absolutes!
