This is a sad fact of life and one that we all need to be on the lookout for to protect ourselves, our loved ones and the innocent!

Recently the BJJ community has been rocked with accusations and allegations of inappropriate behavior. I do not know any of the details and it is not my point to inform or spread anything. All the information is out there to be found.

However, as a parent, instructor, martial practitioner I have observed this before. It is not new but it is sad for the victims or anyone affected. It’s important that we as people/parents/practioners do our due dillegence when training. Investigate before you start training. Do not put anyone up on a pedestal. Do not give anyone power over you. Do not allow anyone to negatively affect you or your loved ones. Protect yourself, your loved ones and other people if you see someone not doing the right thing.  Never give someone the chance to take advantage of you or your loved ones.  Be vigilant!  Be on top of things!  Be fair in your dealings with people but always verify and maintain awareness of what us going on!

No one has the right to harm someone else.  Together we cannot eradicate all bad behavior but we certainly can make a difference and not tolerate it…
