Defanging The Snake!

A simple term thrown about in the FMA world but what does it mean?  Well it means to take the fangs out of the snake or defang it.  We as humans do not have fangs like a snake does but we do use tools that can bite ie. knife, sword, stick, etc.  So when you here defang the snake it means to take out the tool in the hand that is wielding it.  I spend allot of time practicing this type of movement, whether it be with sticks, long knifes, daggers, folding knifes, etc.  If in a moment of personal protection and someone is attacking me and they have a knife if I am able to take out that attacking hand and the tool that it is bearing the situation may turn in my favor.  That really is the goal in a self defense situation in that we wish to turn it in our favor so that we can survive.  Defanging the snake techniques are effective and efficient at this!
