A Little Variation Here And There Goes A Long Way!

…..The other day when getting in a workout with a friend of mine we were practicing a common technique that both of us know.  While practicing we continually reexamined the technique and each of us came up with some minute variations from other variations on the technique.  Now this was really a fun time as we both have been practicing for years and know this technique well but each found something new and special during that training session.  In your training a little variation can go a long, long way to keeping the practicing exciting.  Having been practicing the martial sciences for nearly thirty years consistently I am always amazed to find something totally new or a variation on a movement that catches my eye.  These variations inspire me to continuing training and pursing this passion that we all share.  I am fortunate to have friends in many systems who when in the area stop by and always make the time to train with me.  Some as a student/teacher relationship and others like this last one as good friends getting together and practiticing each others skill sets.  Variation of technique is also just one thing but each person is also radically different in how they move.  I move differently than almost all of my students and that is how it should be.  We all will move differently because we have different body types, mental strategies, mind sets, fears and of course different types of attributes.  Personally I love the variation that I see in IRT practitioners as I learn from everyone.  That is the goal in martial practice, learn, enjoy and have some variation!

See You On The Mats!
