Under The Weather!

…..Forgive the picture above as it really does not go with this topic.  On a day like today I am often reminded how important it is to practice your martial skill sets in a manner where you concentrate on good movement and technical proficiency and the utilization of tools.  You see today I am sick and it would be very, very hard to defend myself utilizing a strength vs. strength model.  No, we as martial practitioner’s need to understand that we will not always be at our optimum strength.  This means we may be sick, tired, older, etc. when a confrontation occurs.  If this is the case then we need to have good movement, technique and tool usage built into our system of training.  If I was to have to defend myself today utilizing superior size, strength and other attributes I would be in for a world of hurt.  So today when I go out (yes I have to at some point) I will be prepared to utilize various tools in my personal protection or for the protection of my children and wife.  You see I would have a very hard time defending myself with just my empty hands.  When you are this under the weather you need to have equalizer’s, good movement and of course technical proficiency.
