…..Okay so you are training and learning the martial sciences. Cool! Welcome to the fold and understand that you are doing some thing really, really special. You do need to understand that it takes time to get good at it. Yes time and lots of patience. I cannot tell you how many times I have had some one walk in start training and realize that wow this is really hard work and if I am going to be any good at it I will have to practice and practice hard. People generally realize that they are going to have to invest some serious time to get good and this level of commitment well is not for everyone. That is one reason why people who have been practicing for around thirty years are not on every corner. (also not everyone who claims to have been practicing that long really has but that is a different story]
🙁
…..If you wish to have the martial skill sets that will give you an edge then you are going to have to practice and practice some more. You will also need to devote the time and resources needed to succeed. You will need patience and the ability to persevere during the difficult time (and there will be some) and have that indomitable spirit that will not allow you to quit. Is this for everyone? Absolutely not! However, if you are willing to put in the time and persevere then the end result is golden! Absolutely golden and life changing!
See You On The Mats!

Two relevant points…
1. There’s an old saying about experience; some people have twenty years or experience, and others have one year twenty times. There are people who have trained for years and years… but not progressed.
2. My teacher would tell this story. Some years back, he had someone come to him to learn a particular punch. Now, my teacher had spent several years learning and developing this punch. My teacher shows the guy, and the guy goes off for 10 or 15 minutes to practice. Then the guy comes back, says “I got it… what’s next?” My teacher figures that he must be pretty dumb, since it took him all that time while this guy got it in minutes… 😉
