…..One of the best things about teaching is seeing someone improve and their skill sets develop. That is the number one drive for me when I am teaching. I enjoy the camaraderie and seeing someone improve and grow in the martial sciences. I am as a teacher blessed with some great practitioner’s striving to improve their skill sets. This makes it easy to go to class and teach all those private and semi privates that I do.
…..Now I was just teaching a private lesson last night to a long time practitioner and at the end we were talking about practitioners with advanced skill sets and how they continue to develop their skills. First off everyone needs teachers! Everyone! Yes, it does not matter where you are at you need to be exposed to other teachers to help refine your skills. Whether they are critical of your skill sets or if they inspire you with new training. This is simply essential. Advanced skill practitioners also learn from every single person that they teach. When I am teaching a lesson I am constantly picking up things from the practitioners that I am teaching. Some times the information is new, some times it is information that is reinforced as I am teaching. You can learn also from other practitioners mistakes. All of these come into play and can be fantastic learning opportunities for an advanced practitioner in the martial sciences. Bottom line is that anyone can learn from anyone else! Always remember that!
See You On The Mats!
