…..Okay I have lots of blades and I consider them working tools. All of my Filipino bolos are used around my property to clear brush, etc. I have a few long swords that I do not used obviously to clear brush but are still considered a tool. Now I take a lot of care of these tools. I try to do the little things to keep them in good working order. One of those is to clean them regularly. Personally because of my fine passion with the Japanese swords I use choji oil to keep them oiled and clean. When cleaning a blade I first wipe off all excessive dirt and then I apply the choji oil and then resheath. Really it is as simple as that. Wipe clean, oil, sheath. (WOS) Another very important point in caring for your blades is simply not to touch them with your hands. The oil and dirt from are hands will damage a blade if they are not cleaned. Plus you could also get cut. So if you do touch one of your blades then of course you will need to WOS or Wipe clean, Oil and sheath it. Also if some one shows you a blade do not touch it. Instead hold by the handle and admire! That is simply good etiquette!
