Love it! What’s the length on that puppy? How does it handle? I recently ordered a Talibong and Ginunting from one of the Tortal students living stateside but the shipment won’t be coming in till april. I am so incredibly curious about how it handles though!

This blade handles fantastic! It literally sings in your hand. I have not measured the blade length but I would guess around 22 to 23 inches give or take and inch. Enjoy your new blade when it arrives. I love mine and the identical trainers that they made for me!

Wasn’t aware that was an option! Awesome! How would one go about acquiring these trainers? Would you still be willing and able to help a brother out in the procurement of these blades? the training versions to be exact? I’m thinking one ginunting and one talibong.
(Also, and interesting tidbit about Carabao horn: It’s a natural blood coagulant, which is one of the main reasons why it has historically been a popular matreial for handles in the Philippines. carabao horn shavings from the handle of your big blade were a big help in dressing wounds when nothing else was handy. Nowadays you see makers who use kamagong instead, though. It’s nice that GM Nene’s Panday still has the option of offering Carabao Horn handles to us!)
I would contact Jerson Tortal Jr. or the Grand Master. I imagine that either one could set you up! 😉 I received my trainers and live blades directly from Jerson Tortal Jr. though the Grand Master’s assistance was offered afterwards through Mike Snow. Needless to say there are options and they will certainly be able to help you out! My trainers are exactly the same as the live blades. They are truly works of art and incredibly efficient! Hope that helps!

ah, small world. Mike is the one hooking me up with the blades in the first place. Never knew trainers were an option. I’ll contact him about it! Beautiful stuff and I can’t wait to get mine.
