…..A long time ago I met a very special man who stressed the importance of being an educated martial practitioner. The main point was to learn as much as you possibly can about as many different systems out there. Now his point was not to go out and study them all but to have a working knowledge of what they do. He also wanted you to know facts, dates, places of martial importance so that when in conversation with other martial practitioner’s you would be able to have great conversations. His approach was not to be restricted by a style in any way but to instead learn as much as you can of all the martial sciences and to never stop this process. I took all of this advice to heart and continue to learn. I try very hard to be up on the current workings in the martial world and also to have not only superficial knowledge but deeper knowledge of many different martial practices. This has truly helped me in many, many ways. By not being limited and by seeking knowledge we have the chance to continue to grow as a martial practitioner! That is the goal after all.
See You On The Mats!
