…..Okay the picture above is me standing in a beautiful waterfall in Tennessee on an absolutely gorgeous day! However not every day is going to be gorgeous and if they all were then we would not really appreciate the them. Yesterday was simply not a gorgeous day where I was at. We knew that we were taking a risk yesterday by traveling to Michigan’s Adventure an amusement and water park here in Michigan. The weather forecast was possible sun and intermittent thunderstorms. Still it was one of those few days when we would be able to go so we went for it. Arriving at 11 am when the park opened we immediately started riding rides and the weather was overcast but nice. It stayed that way for a couple of hours and then it rained continuously the rest of the time. Now this was not so much fun as it was cold and dreary but we made the best of it and continued on. After all we could be working or doing nothing! So in the end we made the best of it and had a great time. It particularly helped that we found a great Japanese restaurant on the way home!
🙂
…..Now how does this pertain to your training? Well some times in your training you may get injured and have to work around that injury. Or you may be learning some thing that you really do not enjoy! Or if you are training outside you may encounter weather difficulties but have to continue on. (this I particularly like) Needless to say not everything in your training will always be great. You will have some adversity and also some times that are just plain bad or difficult. These things you need to find a way to overcome and continue on! That is what separates practitioner’s. Those who are really, really good always continue on and improve. While those who encounter some difficulties or bad times waiver and some times drop out. In taking in the good with the bad you become more well rounded and if you continue on then the sky is the limit! Everyone that I know that has persevered on has never regretted it! Their skill sets simply speak for themselves!

Some great advice Brian, glad to hear you had a good time anyways!
You are so very right.
Some of the hardest stuff to learn, and/or the stuff that takes the longest to learn, gives the greatest rewards and if someone quit when things get hard or take to long they will miss out on some of the best parts of training. And, in my opinion, if all they want is easy and comfortable in MA training they are missing the point.
Thanks Mike!
Tim you are absolutely right as well! Great points!
