…..When you are asleep in bed in the middle of the night and when you here the dog growl it is time. In my house I have several alarm systems from a hard-wired monitored system to my own personal body alarm system. However, the one I seem to trust the most is the dog alarm system. When the dog growls I am on point. Especially because he so rarely does it and when he does it usually indicates some thing is not right. Last night for example he growled around midnight so I was up and in defensive position listening for about twenty minutes until he calmed down. Then I did a thorough building search and went to sleep. This morning in looking around the perimeter I could not find anything except footprints far out. Who knows maybe someone was there or maybe they were not. One thing is for certain is that when the dog growls I am on point and it is time to rumble if necessary. Burglars, invaders, miscreants, beware because the reception will not be pleasant!
If you need an alarm system get a dog preferably some thing with Akita in it! Quiet, calm, loyal but a handful of fury if unleashed. This one is halfway to adult size!

My wife wants to know your dog’s breed. She sees the Akita… but isn’t sure beyond that!
(Ours is Rottweiler-Shepard mix. He’s not growling so much anymore, though… He’s almost 14!)
Hey jks9199,
Rottweiler-Sherpard is a great mix! Ours is Aikita and Sharpei or a Sharkita but he might have a touch of husky. He was a pound puppy that we saved! One thing I like about him is he simply does not really growl/bark unless he is spooked. So he is quiet, kind, smart and getting big.
A dog of almost any breed is a great investiment. Most BG’s will avoid a dog simply for the noise. The teeth are just an added bonus. 😉
Absolutely tgace! I think bad guy’s simply look for easy places to go to and dogs kind’ve mess that up. Just like Alarm systems, people that are aware, etc! Good stuff and keep up the good work on your blog!
Hopefully whoever it was/wasnt, is reading this blog so they can know not to return!
Hopefully Mike!
