The day was hot and we had been training in Japan for about a week when my good friend Bart Uguccioni said, “hey let’s go do an IRT video shoot today over at a Shinto Shrine.” With that we boarded the trains heading out of Tokyo and made our way to Noda-Shi and headed over to a Shinto Shrine devoted to the Martial Arts. The people there seemed pleased to have us there and video shooting so we began.
Bart Uguccioni got behind the video camera and proceeded to shoot. Now we had been in Japan for awhile training in Budo Taijutsu and my good friend’s Kellen Myers and Brian Greeson (both practitioner’s of Budo Taijutsu) stood in and helped me by throwing some strikes and falling, etc. One thing is for sure they braved the heat and as always were excellent partner’s to work with. It also was a good thing that they enjoyed falling and rolling on concrete! 🙂
The end result was that we came away with quite a bit of video footage that later I turned into a best selling Hard Cover book, CD and DVD set that has sold all around the world! (every continent except Antarctica) The footage covered was the Wrist Strike or Abiniko Strike with both Single Stick and Stick and Dagger. I literally flew on the spot just moving from technique to technique with no planning and no thought. With the idea of just showing some of what I do in Instinctive Response and through what many Filipino Teacher’s have shown me in the past.
Here are a few clips from the Book, CD and DVD: Advanced Wrist Strike Techniques!
I hope you enjoyed the clips and of course they are crystal clear on the DVD!

A Spartan fan would, of course, put my last name as Davis. For the rest of the world it’s Myers. : ) GO BLUE!
You know Kellen that is hillarious! I was just reading a Spartan website and I did not even notice that is how I wrote it. Duh. I will edit the origional now to reflect that it was The Kellen Myers who was with me on that day! : ) Glad to have you checking out the Blog Kellen. For those of you not in the know Kellen teaches at the Bloomington Bujinkan Dojo and if you are in the area stop in and check out some great training! http://www.bloomingtonbujinkan.com
Brian,
The clips on your site look awsome. They really are good examples of what IRT is all about!!
