DefenseCraft is a conceptualized outlook on MartialScience that is open and inclusive and effective. Matt Lamphere is the driving force behind DefenseCraft though being helped along the way by friend’s Bill Bednarick and Nate Bynum and I personally am enjoying watching it grow.

Defense Craft is not a martial system, but the manifestation of a particular philosophical approach to the study and dissemination of the warrior arts. The goal of Defense Craft is to further the evolution of martial arts through the distillation and fusion of highly effective tribal and progressive combative systems as informed, but not over-complicated by the classical martial arts and ways.

DefenseCraft has been influenced along the way by: Boxing, Kickboxing, Kuntaw, Natural Spirit International, Tae Kwon Do, Comtech Draw Point, Knife Work of Jim Miller, Instinctive Response Training, BJJ, Modern Arnis and many more.
It has been my pleasure to work with Matt when he attended my seminar’s and also to have him down to teach his own brand of Martial Science. Blade work has always been a pivotal factor in my own training so when we hosted a DefenseCraft Blade Concepts seminar it was really cool and those that attended benefitted greatly!
I particularly liked how Matt blended boxing with blade work. Excellent movement and being a former kickboxer myself I always enjoy seeing the movement made deadly effiecient with a blade. 🙂
Matt Lamphere is also a producer of top quality DVD’s. He does quite a bit of Kelly Worden’s DVD work now and is currently in production with work for Dan McConnel who is a Modern Arnis practitioner.
