Short Term and Long Term!

Okay, when you start training you need immediate results.  Simply put you need to be able to see that you skill set is improving and will give you a chance in the moment to protect yourself or your loved ones.  Seeing immediate results and realizing that what you are learning can be used in the real world for personal protection is very, very important for the new practitioner.  Good instruction in the Martial Sciences will allow you to see this right from the get go.  Within a short time this should be evident in your training and you should see improvement and real world training that will give you confidence in the Short Term!

Now what happens next?  Hmmmmmm!  Well Short Term you are great you need that positive feedback immediately but what about Long Term?

Well with Long Term training you need variety on the basic technique of the Short Term training and you need to explore the advanced training.  This variety will keep you going and allow you to continue to have that passion in the long run.  To many people that I have met have lost the passion.  They were good, maybe even real good Short Term but then they lost it.  Either the training got boring or their interest waned.  Either way, they lost the passion and eventually left.  Long Term they just did not have it!  That is a shame because Short Term skill sets disappear without practice.  Oh you may have the knowledge of what you learned but after not practicing it for month’s those skills basically will not be that effective or completely ineffective.  So knowing that and knowing that you will need variety to train Long Term.  Spice it up and add some variety.  Good instructors do this all the time and their students benefit greatly.  If you are not getting enough of this in your training then do some seminar’s or ask your teacher for private lessons to get that variety.  In the end, Long Term training is up to you.  You need to find a way to have that passion and keep it burning.

In The End it is Up to You!
