Okay I am a very big fan of Silat! It can be found in Malaysia, Indonesia and yes in the Philippines. Not to mention since the world has become smaller you can find Silat everywhere! Why do I like Silat? Well it can be surprising and it certainly has some unique qualities to it but most of all I like the directness and overall body structuring that it provides. Silat pracitioner’s also work with angles very, very well and that is just one more reason why I enjoy practicing it whenever I can. Timing, distancing and weapons training also come into play as well. (very, very important in any martial system) Needless to say Silat is very effective. However, one of the nice things about practicing Silat is that Silat practitioner’s are just fun to hang out with. 🙂
Well cruising the world wide web I came across a Silat Guru out of Arizona. Recently he did a seminar to great review for Mike Blackgrove out in Texas. ( http://www.bahadzubuwest.org/ ) Guru Erik Kruk is a Baringin Sakti Pencak Silat teacher and practitioner. Following are some of his video clips.
