Okay I am just back in from the MartialTalk Southern Meet and Greet! I would like to thank Terry and Yolanda Stoker for being fantastic hosts and having me in again to teach. The Meet and Greet was a success and it is always nice to meet and teach new people and see their expressions when they enjoy the material. For my part over the weekend I covered some personal protection skills designed to counter an attacker and then get off line and get out of there. I also covered 1- 19 Striking Techniques some offensive and defensive stick/blade angle work, 6 count with the stick and with the blade in forward and reverse grip. We also worked on some standing joint manipulation and takedown and of course we hit the mats with some IRT style combative grappling which focused on shoulder seperating with the Bent Arm Lock and Reverse Bent Arm Lock! Bob Rose taught his systems style of Kempo which was very interesting to watch and see how they moved. Good angles were used and well everyone knows that I enjoyed watching people use angles and good movement! This system of Kempo has excellent movement coupled with using the hips so that the whole body is involved. It was a real treat to see. All in all I think everyone enjoyed the experience and it was a great time meeting new people and seeing friends. Special thanks go out to Rich Parsons for helping me out on Saturday. It is always a good time to cross blades with Rich! Hopefully I will have some pictures up on the Blog tomorrow!
