Well tomorrow is going to be a long day working with The Training Team gaining a CPL license in the state of Michigan. Myself, another IRT Practitioner and his wife will be going through the comprehensive Training Team CPL class and working our skill sets. It actually has been a long time since I have taken a firearms class going way back to my day’s going through the police academy. Even though I have kept my skills up by going to the range monthly and well yes I have had a little private instruction on some specific skills by some tactical firearm experts. Still this will be the first group class in quite a long time that I have taken. Group firearm training is always interesting because of all the unusual dynamics and also the varied skill sets that are brought from the different people involved. I can remember going through the academy like yesterday and some individuals were simply fantastic shots and needed really no training. There were however other LEO academy students who had never picked up a firearm which was very, very surprising but still just a typical group dynamic. I can imagine that tomorrow will be little different in that some people have never shot or shot once or twice while others have shot their entire life. Needless to say it will be a fun day with I am sure interesting information. One thing they will be covering is the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection in the Home. This is a nice little interesting book that I feel everyone interested in personal protection should take a look at and read. The course overview looks good and I am really interested in getting this training rolling. All in all it will be a great time!
