You know when you are training and learning new technique sometimes it just does not click right away. This happens to me all the time. When exposed to something new I go through a little period of distinct newness where my body just does not do exactly what I am learning. Often when this happens I will just continue on trying to make it work during the instructors training period even if the results are somewhat lacking. I will ask questions during or afterwards to help with the learning process. Sometimes that fixes the problems I am having and other times well it takes time. You see you simply cannot force your mind and body to learn unless it is ready and the time is right. So after a training session like the above I will go home, relax and think and visualize what we were doing. I kind of let the training seep in so to speak. During this period the lines, angles, distance, etc. is worked out. Usually the next time I try the technique or skill set it is easy to perform it. It is like I have known it all along. I can perform it with no problem and even then show the advantages and disadvantages of the particular technique or skill set. I had to let my mind and body figure out and learn when it is the right time! This process is certainly not unique in that most people go through it. So the next time you are training and having some difficulties do not stress about it. Just keep training and afterwards visualize what you were doing and learn when it is the right time!
See You On The Mats!
