…..One thing that is very important to practice is feeding a fake strike. What do I mean by this? Well let’s say I wish to hit a target I may feed a strike to a certain area knowing or expecting that my opponent will try to counter it. Having fed this strike which was always a fake I can then proceed to attack the incoming limb or another part of my opponents body. This concept is important with all martial techniques and skill sets such as empty hands, impact tools but it really is a special technique with bladed weapons. Feeding the fake with a blade allows you to pull your opponent out of a defensive position and then counter attack his limb or go for the vital point that you wanted to get to. What is also nice is that this is a pretty natural type of thing for our species to do. When I am messing around with my twelve year old he invariably does this. Even my nine year old will do this as well. So it is some thing that we as a species find pretty natural. However in order to get really good at it you need to practice it and apply it real time. Then you will know if it works for you!
