…..Okay if you look at the post from yesterday there are some excellent comments in how your clothing and equipment can change what you can do in the moment. This is a very important point as what you wear can and will dictate what you can do. A heavy coat with gloves and boots like in the photo above will change what you can do in the moment. Like wise a police officer in their duty rig will have more limited movement then someone wearing just shorts, t-shirt and tennis shoes. Further remember that at least one third of your day you are wearing almost nothing at all. (meaning when you are sleeping) There is always a chance that you may have a home break in where you will be wearing little and probably most assuredly be in bare feet. The point of this post is that you need to be able to move effectively irregardless of what you are wearing. This also means that you need to be comfortable with everything that you wear and have the ability to protect yourself or your loved ones whether you are in shorts, bare foot, wearing a heavy winter coat, gloves and boots, etc. We need to be adaptable not only to the environment or weather but also to the items and clothing that we are wearing.
Love the conversation guys and hopefully we all can grow from it!

Training in different clothes and equipment is very important. For one thing — if you don’t practice in that gear, you won’t know WHERE things are! A couple weeks ago we ran out on an operation in tactical vests and I didn’t use the belt keepers that I usually do… and I went reaching for cuffs at one point and couldn’t find ’em! The pouch had slid along my belt without the keeper to stop it…
Different gear gives different options. Different options create different choices and movement capabilities.
Absolutely jks9199. I have had hand cuffs slide on me once as well. Made for an exciting moment or two. 🙂
