…..When one decides to take up the martial path you will most assuredly be tested. The biggest test will be your commitment to improving your martial skills. Training in anything can be difficult because it takes up time and requires effort. The Martial Sciences are no different in this respect. Time and effort are essential in improving on your martial path. You simply cannot become a better martial practitioner if you are not willing to give these precious commodities. With all of the day to day things that come up with family, work, friend obligations, etc. Time becomes a very valuable commodity! When I decided to study the Martial Sciences almost thirty years ago. I made a conscious decision that I was going to stick with it. That I always wanted to feel effective and have skills that might allow me to protect myself and those I loved. (plus I find it fun) Throughout my training I have at times really had that commitment tested but I have always continued on. My first instructor always used to say that the Martial Sciences are not easy but instead something really special if you are willing to train hard. He was right in that these skill sets are extremely special but you have to train hard, be committed and never look back!
