…..Your training who controls it. Why of course you do! Some times I am amazed that people rely too much on outside sources for their training. They come to rely way to much on their teacher, friends, etc. In the end we must all understand that our training is ultimately our personal responsibility! A good friend of mine regularly mentions to me that someone has really taken control of their training and is progressing nicely or he mentions that someone’s training has fallen off and he cannot understand how they could do that to themselves. His point being that even though he is available regularly to teach them that in the end it is completely up to them to train and improve or not train and improve. In other words he is not there to hold their hands and if they show up okay but if they do not that is not his problem! He instead focuses on his training and those people who are there! I have had students in the past take great responsibility for their training and simply thrive in multiple different situations. Some times they moved and continued to train on their own with the knowledge that they knew. Other times they may have found another instructor closer to their new location and they thrived. I have even had students move back and pick their training up again with me and bring new skill sets that they had acquired in the mean time. (that was great) I have also had practitioners move away and stop when they could not find anything to train in that fitted their needs. Here I mean they stopped completely and lost their skills over time. In the end our skill sets require that we regularly train and improve. For the opposite is not to train and not improve but instead regress. So with that in mind it is important that we remember that we need to improve and train. It is our personal responsibility that will determine if we get better. No one else’s! If you do not improve and continue to train then you can only blame yourself! Look in the mirror and determine your needs because in the end it comes down to you and your goals and desire!
See You On The Mats!
