Midnight Training!

…..So the other night I could not sleep.  I woke up around 11:30 or so and realized quite quickly that I was not going to fall right back to sleep.  So I tip toed out of the bedroom and managed to use a remote feature to negate the alarm.  I worked my way down the stairs only having to tell the dog go back to bed and put on my uniform and headed outside!  The sky was perfect with beautiful stars everywhere and lots of peace and quiet.  So I went into training mode and practice a few techniques that had been providing me some difficulty.  After training a quick dip in the pool and then back up the stairs, assure the dog it is me and rearm the house alarm.  Then a quick shower and back to bed.  Fortunately other than the beast no one woke up and at that point I could easily fall back to sleep!  Anyone that knows me understands that I like to train in all kinds of different places with different temperatures and climates.  I particularly enjoy training in the snow and also extreme heat.  I like to move on asphalt and concrete as well as on a nice matted floor!  Variety in my training is important.  From training in a uniform to street clothes and shoes and so on!  I personally feel it is essential for any practitioner of the Martial Sciences to understand that they need to experience everything that they can and that includes training in different situations, places, outfits and also with different people.  This way you create strong mental fortitude and having a greater chance of not being surprised.  Imagine if you practiced one system and it emphasized heavy in the kicking department and also high kicks.  What would happen if you were in jeans and unable to kick high?  It could end in a disaster if you were trying to protect yourself or your loved ones.  Vice versa if you were and expert in grappling but had never trained against weapons and were one day assaulted by two people and one had a knife.  Tough to learn in that moment that weapon and tool based skill sets are important.  No instead be a martial practitioner that explores and experiences everything that they can.  Do not put yourself in a box!  Instead explore, elevate and create!  See what is out there, be bold and bite on it firmly!

See You On The Mats!
