…..Every once in awhile I am asked to do a review. I will only do a review of a product that I like or enjoy in some way. If one does not meet the standards of being interesting on some level then I simply will not put it up here on The Instinctive Edge. Recently when asked to review a new book: The Ninja Ancient Shadow Warriors of Japan by Dr. Kacem Zoughari I looked it over and found that it definitely met my standards! This book was an interesting read for anyone who practices the Takamatsu-Den martial ways. You will particularly find it interesting if you are a practicing Budo Taijutsu adept and follow directly in the lineage of Takamatsu Sensei. Dr. Zoughari is a PH.D in Oriental Studies from a prestigious French University. He is also a long time Budo Taijutsu practitioner who went to a lot of depth and research in this book. While I am not in a position to check his facts and or assumptions I will say that several key important points appear to be very correct in how they were related to me by people I trust who know this material! I found it interesting that he had more depth then almost all the other written works out there on the Kobudo of Takamatsu Sensei and also in particular these shadow warriors from Japan. Of course Hatsumi Sensei books are simply must have’s except for the ones written by ghost writers particularly Stephen Hayes but not only him! Still this work written by Dr. Zoughari is interesting and goes beyond what is normally out there for anyone interested in the warrior arts of Japan. It of course is not flawless and will have mistakes just like any book published by any man or woman. Still it is an interesting read and I enjoyed it! It is published by Tuttle Press and you can pick it up at almost any bookstore! So if you are looking for a good read then check it out and enjoy!
See You On The Mats!
