Turning Away Potential Students!

…..Okay any good Martial Science instructor does not just take any student off the street.  There will be times when either you talk to someone or after you have met and trained with them that you realize that this is a person that you do not want to teach.  Anyone that teaches will eventually have this happen to them.  When in Alma I always screened the practitioiner’s that I was teaching.  There were times when I felt that someone just did not fit with what we were doing.  There were times when someones actions required them to not be taught anymore.  As a teacher you need to try and make the best decisions based on your interactions and your gut feelings.  Some times you have to let someone go and not teach them anymore.  In other words you need to turn them away and not teach them these skill sets.  Responsible teachers do this!

See You On The Mats!

Great post Brian and I agree completely

My Sanda sifu takes this to that extreme. He will teach no one that he does not know and trust.

His discription of Sanda is that it is not the best martial art, it is not the most dangerous martial art, it is just a real good way to quickly learn how to hurt someone very badly and he does not want to teach anyone that will go use it just to hurt people

    Glad I made the cut
