Sexuality In Grappling?

BE BOLD BITE FREELY AND HOLD ON FOR THE RIDE THE FOLLOWING IS SURE TO DRAW CONTROVERSY!

Okay I came across this video the other day on a forum.  It deals with how a BJJ practitioner was harassed because he was gay.  Now, I have grappled through the years with both men and women and it has never been a sexually charged situation.  Instead it is one of the situations where grappling technique, movement and skill set is paramount.  I can remember grappling with a young lady who had just literally taken apart a couple of other gentleman.  Literally her skill level was that good.  During our match I focused solely on my movement and technique and how to beat her BJJ game.  There simply is nothing sexual about grappling!  So it really should be a non-factor on the mats what someones preferences are!  Instead let the training and development of Martial Science skill sets be what is important in your practice!   Following here is the video in question!  Enjoy your training and remember to always let other people enjoy their training as well!

It is your choice how you treat other people!  Personally, I treat everyone how I would like to be treated!

Imagine if you were discriminated or not allowed to participate in what you like because you were white, black, asian, poor, rich, nerdy, athlete/jock, woman, man, surfer, drummer or because you were disabled, etc.  Everyone should have the right to pursue their dreams!

Now I am not saying you have to let anyone train with you as there is always a choice but do not be afraid of things!  Be bold and strong and confident in yourself!

The academy at the end is East/West in Grand Rapids, Michigan!

Be secure in yourself!

See You On The Mats!

I probably should not say anything since I do not train BJJ but I have heard this before and I have always thought the best response from a BJJ practitioner would be

Why don’t you step out on the mat so I can show you some of the gay stuff I learned. And then when we’re done you can tell me how good it all felt. 🙂

BJJ is, IMO, a good MA and a good BJJ school is one of the few MA schools in existence today that still trains hard and does not give belts away.

    Hey Tim,

Sounds like a good response and you are correct that very few BJJ schools give belts away. Though in recent years things have changed a bit with the massive popularity it has garnered!

    Absolutely!
