The Best Defense

Recently my cable company now has the Outdoor Channel.  One of the perks of this is that the TV show “The Best Defense” is on it.  This show gives a lot of practical advice on self defense and personal protection.  There is some really good stuff and one of the hosts is Michael Janich whom I have a quite a bit of respect for.  Of course they will have like any personal protection program some things that I may not agree with but by and large I really like what I have watched  so far.  The show has a good mix of empty hand and tool/weapon tactics.  Give it a try and see if you like it!

Looks like a good show and I have told people for years the best defense is being aware of your surroundings

  2. Brian VanCise says:

Absolutely Tim. Being aware of your surroundings is crucial. If you are aware you have a very good chance of avoiding conflict. To many people operate in a safety zone where they are oblivious to what is going on around them. Hopefully we can educate them to be alert, aware and avoid situations that may put them or their loved ones in jeopardy!

Every time I go for a walk near my office (in a medium size city) I am absolutely amazed at how many people are completely oblivious to what is going on around them. Either on the cell phone, blue tooth, texting listening to the MP3 player or just being oblivious as the walk, ride or drive I just don’t know where to start in educating anyone of them so I focus on doing my best at getting my family to pay attention to what is going on around them
