Okay, everyone that shoots needs to be able to shoot with iron sights. However, that is really old technology. Modern Shooting at a higher level should happen with rifle scopes, red dots and rmrs on a handgun. You need to know how to shoot with iron sights but they should be your backup sights. As technology improves we must adapt and if you train for personal protection that definitely includes you. Take advantage of technology. Use that technology and become better. In the firearms world red dots and rmrs give you an advantage and will make you more accurate. Riflescopes will do the same. Thermal and night vision as well.
