If your training is about Personal Protection then it has to have realistic training within it. You need to train a movement slowly, speed it up, train it in a drill and then get some alive practice in. You also need to train in places outside of a Training Hall. Time needs to be spent training in clothes that you normally wear and shoes. However, if your like me and you don’t wear shoes all the time you still need some training in bare feet, socks, slippers, flip flops, etc. Most importantly if your training has anything to do with Personal Protection you need training with weapons! Firearms, edged weapons, blunt weapons, everyday man made objects natural objects, vehicles and more. Your training needs to be realistic and cover the potential threats you might face. It can’t all be training in a Training Hall or a safe matted place. Grappling on mats is way different then Grappling on cement. Way different… So evaluate your training. Is it realistic enough?
