This is a fascinating read on a small part of the history of Gracie JiuJitsu. I have heard similar stories that other people have recounted, and it certainly was a different time, with different approaches and people were a little rougher aroubd the edges. I recall dojo storming happening in the US as well. The effectiveness of the martial system of Gracie or Brazilian JiuJitsu speaks for itself. I am a proponent of having good grappling skills. People unfortunately from all walks of life can be disappointing. Irrespective of their position or place in society. I for one appreciate what Helio Gracie personally did for me based on my learning the fundamentals of Brazilian JuiJitsu. We should all strive to be good people, living a fullfilled life. Do your own research. This story is just that, a story on one perspective from the history of the beginnings of what would later be known as Gracie JiuJitsu. I do not know any more regarding the truthfulness of it. Let the reader determine what it means to them or do more research… I’m sure the public records are there somewhere and would shed light on these situations.
I encourage all IRT practitioners to practice ground fighting skill sets from Brazilian JiuJitsu and other grappling arts. Practice what I teach but learn from other instructors as well. Remember:
