Combat Sports & Defensive Tactics…

Okay, so anyone that knows me closely also knows that I watch a lot of combat sports. From MMA to Muay Thai to Kickboxing, Wrestling, BJJ, Sumo, Judo, point karate, you name it I try to watch it. I just enjoy that type of competition! Two people going at it with one winner. Love it! I have competed a lot when I was younger as well. Kickboxing, tournament fighting, etc. Now, I have worked in and out of Law Enforcement for a long time as well. The mentality in Law Enforcement, the requirements of the job and the type of violence we encounter requires very specific training and tactics geared towards what we do. Training that is effective, efficient, deals with the reality of real world violence as it pertains to Law Enforcement and training that also does not injure officer’s so that they can actually work their shifts. Defensive Tactics in Law Enforcement is very specific to that field. Designed around the law, specific requirements of a Department and specialized units, the equipment we use and wear. I love watching competitive combat sports but it is very different than real world violence and specifically to the violence encountered by LEO’s!  Sports are Sports do not confuse a sport with what happens out in the world.  They may have some similarities but they are different!
