Whoa, wait a second that art is just too pretty… Have you ever heard that? I have, plenty of times and I’m here to tell you there is something to it. Now, if a technique or set of moves is pretty or beautiful to watch, dont rule them out. Sure, they may not be the most practical but at the right time, right place with the right person they might work. Might, is the right thing to think and then investigate. Ok, most violent altercations I have seen are not pretty and I have been in or observed a few. So if an art or system is pretty to watch just don’t roll your eyes and think any exponent of it will not be able to make it work. They might, you may not though! The system may really have some sound principals in it. That might make it effective under the right circumstances. Elements and principals are what need to drive any Martial System. Not technique or personalities. No the elements and principals must do the heavy lifting. These must also adhere to science to actually work. If these are sound, the system should work if it is used in the right manner, at the right time! So, if you see something and it just doesn’t look right. Break down the systems principals, elements and apply science to it. You might just learn something!
