IRT Is A Living, Growing, Changing Martial System!

Instinctive Response Training is a living, growing, changing martial system.  So what is up with that?  Well to put it simply IRT has no dead ends.  There is simply no limit to what you can do with it or what direction you can go in with it.  Practitioner’s can grow and move once they learn the basic movements in many directions and even decide to specialize in certain areas.

Almost all of the practitioner’s that I have taught that have ingrained the IRT movement into their system have differances in what they do based upon their personality, training, previous training and in general their physical makeup.  We are all unique after all.  So we all in the end should be unique in our individual movement.

Through the years I have taught many people and invariably each and every one of them has pleasently surprised me in how they can do certain things that well simply put, many other practitioner’s cannot do.  This uniqueness in the martial sciences is something truly beautiful to behold.

Now the core movement will always be similar but after the practitioner makes it their own with countless hours of practice then their unique skill sets really start to emerge.  that is the beauty of training in true martial science.

Now IRT is always growing and always changing.  I am constantly doing research and development.  Constantly!  The core movement of IRT and the principles and elements that we use will be the same but we can take them and manipulate them so that innovations occur all the time.  Constant research and development by both myself and other practitioner’s always gives us new insight as well as new motivation.  Never be stagnent or stop growing for as soon as you do that you have stopped training.  Always strive to constantly grow and change and improve!  That is essential not only for the individual but also the system that they train in.  No one has all the answers but if you are willing to train in a living, growing and changing martial system then answers in many forms will come to you!

I will not be held back in my growth nor will I be cookie cutter lumped into a certain area only.  I intend never to stop learning and growing!  This is what we all must seek to do!

Oh and if you trained with me in the past but are not current do not be surprised if you come back and well training has advanced and those training currently may have greater skills.  The world moves, changes and you need to stay current to keep with the growth!  Miss some training and you may miss a key that unlocks something unique!

“Miss some training and you may miss something unique!”

GREAT advice. I was always afraid to miss class because I was certain that the class I missed would be the one where my instructor shared something he’d never teach again, or that was the one key that I needed…

(In fact, I think you just prompted a brief lecture when I teach tonight… Got some students who have been making excuses a bit too often lately.)
