Probably most people are not aware of it but Michigan is simply loaded with great Martial Artists and great Instructors.  From Modern Arnis to Kuntaw or Tae Kwon Do, Brazilian Jiujitsu, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu and the list goes on.  We simply have some great practitioner’s and instructor’s.  However, some of them keep a low profile and run their training in a very low key manner befitting their personality.  A good friend of mine is just such an individual and he runs the Dexter Bujinkan Dojo.  Dexter Michigan is located just north and west of Ann Arbor and is a small but growing nice little town that reminds me of home.  Located just outside of the city is the Dexter Bujinkan Dojo which is run by Shidoshi Bart Uguccioni.  Bart has been around for a long time in the Bujinkan so long that many of his peers are now at the apex in terms of rank.  That is not really the path that Bart has chosen instead he is all about training and perfecting his own skills.  You can readily see it when you meet him and you can also see it in his students.  Further even more than all these years in the Bujinkan with numerous trips to Japan Bart has brought real world experience to the table in his teachings.  Having learned Shotokan Karate early on in some incredibly rough places and been a United State Marine.  Bart has been around the world and in some tight places.  Couple that with years and years of serious Budo Taijutsu training and you have an excellent practitioner and teacher.  All throughout Michigan we have some great best kept secrets in the martial arts.  Bart Uguccioni’s Dexter Bujinkan Dojo is just that!
