Diving In!

Sensei Mark O’Brien

…..I am often asked many questions by new or prospective students concerning joining either one of my Training Halls or groups as well as joining someone else.  Quite often my response is simply to dive in and experience what is being taught and see if you like it.  If you watch video or sit on the side line during training there is really no way to know if you will enjoy it.  The Martial Sciences are a physical, mental and spiritual pursuit.  You cannot watch and do.  Know, you need to immerse yourself in them and practice and that is the only way to learn.  I can remember my first lesson almost thirty years ago and let me tell you I was very, very nervous.  However, I stepped up to the plate and as you can tell I hit a home run because it became a life long passion in the end.   So I always tell people to dive in and give it a try and if you and the instructor mesh then who knows it could be the greatest thing ever!
