Weekend Training Adventure!!!

So this weekend we had our Training On The Edge of the World Intensive Class!  People came from out-of-town and we trained throughout the weekend in several unique locations.  The first day we trained at the beautiful Red Rock Canyon.  This national park is simply breathtaking and after a short hike we trained  down in a small valley on top of a boulder!  Knife Defense and Stick/Long Knife and Dagger was the order of the weekend and the first training session whetted everyone’s appetites!  On the same day we traveled to the top of Lone Mountain to view the city and did a little training.

On Saturday the mountain passes were dangerous for hiking so instead we traveled to Nevada’s first state park The Valley of Fire!  The Valley of Fire is a unique place.  Mountains, boulders, trails, gulleys, valleys with red rock, bee hive like mountains, rainbow color mountains and white domes.  It has been a place that is sought out by movie makers do to its incredible natural beauty!  Following are a few pictures from The Valley of Fire training on Stick/Long Knife and Dagger.  Enjoy!

The next day we traveled to Mt. Charleston and climbed the Bristlecone Trailhead.  Of course in some places there were three feet of snow so it was treacherous footing and serious climbing.  We made it to the top of a peak after some serious work and then we trained for an hour or so!

All in all it was a great weekend with adventures climbing, training and of course good IRT style friendship!!!

Look for more pictures soon!  Plus wild video footage once everything has been finished and worked on!

See You In The Mountains!!!

Pictures look awesome! Looks like you guys had a great time. I have never been out west, but looking at the photos I have to sometime get out to Nevada! I cant wait to see the video. As a side question, if you do 1-19 with 26″ stick with your off (my left) hand, would the targets be reversed, or would they stay the same as if I was using my strong hand? Take care.

  2. Brian VanCise says:

Everything is done exactly the same. Meaning that it is like a mirror image and done the same as if with your strong hand. If you try to reverse them you will have issues. Ask Gary to do 1 – 19 with the left hand to get some practice in class!

Thanks Brian. I’ll ask Gary when I see him next week. Snowstorm kicked our butt. Wish I lived in Nevada.
