Yesterday Kerry Krick with the help of Bob Helcher tested Tony Kirby for his Associate Instructor rank! In IRT this is our first level of Blackbelt. In Instinctive Response Training we take testing and advancement very serious. Nothing is given and everything has to be earned over time with a practitioners training and eventually under pressure on testing day! Due to the fact that our system is so broad testing can take quite a while and some times it begins without even a practitioner knowing it during practice. Eventually on testing day it is a long, exhausting process culminating with Full Contact Sparring and Submission Grappling. Tony Kirby has been with us for a long time. First training in group and semi private lessons and eventually moving to private lessons due out of necessity because of work. Kerry Krick conducted this test in our fashion with precision and intensity and Tony lived up to what it takes to advance to the Associate Instructor Level in Instinctive Response Training. We just keep getting stronger as a tribe, family group!
