So as I tricked and treated with the kid’s last night I was watching the immediate surroundings.  Where we were at was loaded with people.  Literally hundreds of kid’s and parents walking and enjoying Halloween.  Everyone was having a good time, whether they were young or old.  From a personal protection stand point this is a moment when even though you are having a lot of fun you need to still be aware of your surroundings and who is within your immediate area.  I have met a few predators through the years and they often commented how they look for people not paying attention to their surroundings.  They look for people who are wrapped up in whatever they are doing and simply not paying attention.  As a parent out with a group and paying attention to the kid’s I was with and their enjoyment of the moment it would have been really easy to get tunnel vision on them and not perform the necessary security check of the immediate area.  If you are serious about you and your families personal protection always maintain your vigilance even when having a really good time.  It literally only takes seconds but…… it is worth it!
