I was asked the other day by a good friend that If I had to do it (my Martial Science Training) all over again what would I do? The truthful answer is that I would not change a thing because all of the experiences I have had allowed me to get to this point. Now that is a cop-out answer according to my friend so I will add a however to it. However, if I were just starting out I would probably first look into firearms training and a tactical school with a strong background in legal matters that focused on Awareness, Avoidance and Action. followed by Filipino Martial Arts training in conjunction with Brazilian Jiujitsu training. Then a variety of seminar training in other arts specifically Silat, Kuntaw, Balintawak, Budo Taijutsu, Dekiti Tirsia Siradas, Muay Thai, etc., etc. Then a lot more training in firearms school with a tactical edge. To those that know me well and our Instinctive Response Training do you see a similarity! Of course you do! (LOL) The point being is that our system of IRT works! It gives a practitioner a very strong base and a lot of variety. That keeps us on the edge! As someone who is serious about personal protection that edginess is important. Never get complacent! You do not want to be thinking about a “Do Over” after a violent encounter. Instead you want to bleed now in your training so that you do it right the first time!
