Firearm Holsters!

I am a huge fan of good firearm holsters.  I have had a passion for leather holsters for a long time.  However within the last year I have come to really love the Serpa Concealment Holsters by Blackhawk.  These holsters are comfortable and with the Serpa Auto-Lock they provide a level 2 security for retention.  Quick to draw and easy to reholster but with a retention device make these holsters a favorite for concealment.  Highly recommended!

Sorry, I’ve got a major problem with the Serpa lock. It’s too vulnerable to crap getting into the works, and locking your gun in.

    Hey Jim,

As an everyday duty holster for an LEO I would absolutely agree. However for an everyday conealment holster I have not had a problem. However, I am going to have to relook at it and see if I can get some malfunctions. I would hate to be in the moment and have a problem!!! As always your advice is important!

I plan on an even sterner evaluation to see if I can get some malfunctions from food particles, etc. that I will shove into the space. I will add that the space is pretty small but we will see what happens. Wearing it for almost a year I have not had a problem yet.

I also beyond leather holsters have another form fitted plastic safariland holster for my glock 22 with a light optic on it. This one I like but it is so big to carry concealed well in my opinion.

  5. Jim says:

The folks at pistol-training.com don’t think much of the SERPA system, both for the weaknesses of the system, and the dangers of the motion inviting the finger to go into the trigger accidentally. They’ve been prohibited by quite a few LE agencies at all levels.

If it works for you, great. And carrying a Glock 22 with a light concealed? That’s damn near impossible for most of us!

Yes Jim I only take that one out when wearing a certain coat. 🙂
