The Physicality Of It……….

Website Angled Elbow Wild

Okay, almost everyone that knows me understands that I primarily train to feel physically effective.  This physically effective idea stems from wanting to be prepared in case I happen to be in a moment of violence.  In other words I want to be physically effective in a moment of violence.  However, there is more to just that in why I train.  Personally, I am a very active person.  I like athletics, I like working out, I hike, swim, bike, climb, etcetera.  One main ingredient as to why I am drawn to the Martial Sciences is that I like the physicality of it.  I enjoy the sweat, the contact, the pain and the brutality of it.  Some thing about it calls to my spirit!  It is my calling. This was all made crystal clear to me at the age of thirteen.  Ever since I was that young man I wanted to be effective and have done everything the rest of my life so that I am.   Now it is as much a part of me as anything.  I think, breath, sleep the Martial Sciences.  As my wife would say I am a fanatic and this of course is true!  I am equally as passionate to pass along life saving skills to other people.  That is why I teach!  With the amount of violence in our world if I can impart some thing that might help someone else than that is what I am all about.  Whether it helps them in a moment of violence, gives them peace of mind, keeps them in shape or helps them spiritually.  I am all about passing on these skill sets.  So yes I train to feel physically effective and yet there is so much more to it!

  1. I agree. The benefits of being able to move are long lasting. Look at all the grandmasters who live well into their later years. Cacoy Canete is 95!!!

On a completely unrelated note, I know you study a lot of youtube clips. You seem to seek out new sources of information. Have you read anything by Jack Slack? I am loving his work. This might be the best article on Manny Pacquiao that I’ve ever read.

    Cheers and happy training.

  2. Thanks for leaving a comment stlcounterpoint! I do a lot of research on the Martial Sciences. As my wife would say I am fanatical about it! 😉 I have not come across Jack Slack so thank you for passing his work on. Always looking for new sources of inspiration and material!
