Kettle Bells!

Well everyone that knows me knows I am an active person who enjoys just about anything that is athletic.  Running, Weight Lifting, Mountain Climbing, Hiking, Swimming, Football, Basketball heck I even like soccer.  So for Christmas I was interested in getting some Kettle Bells for awhile because one of my best friends is one of the best in the world with them.  His name is Ken Blackburn of:!  Ken has been working with anyone and everyone who is at the very apex of Kettle Bell training and well being an avid weight lifter and needing something new to spice up the workout I asked and received a couple of sets for Christmas.

Now the fun begins.  I feel like a teen ager again lifting.  For the longest time lifting has been a chore but with the Kettle Bells and the new feeling and technique it is a joy!  It literally is like I just started lifting again. : )

What does this have to do with Martial Science?  Well being fit, strong and in shape is one of the best things you can do to give yourself an edge in the moment of a violent encounter.  Working your attributes by weight bearing exercises, body weight exercises, cardiovacular both aerobic and anaerobic gives you an edge that is precious in the moment of truth.  With these Kettle Bells after just a week and a half I am seeing growth that I have not seen in quite a while!

Attribute training is essential for a person interested in Personal Protection!

Good luck with the bells. Have you gone to any of the seminars Ken has held with Steve Cotter? I’ve been to the earlier ones, but not the recent boot camps.

Both great athletes and super nice people.

    Hey Jeff,

I have not been to one of Ken’s seminars as they usually seem to fall when I am teaching a seminar in or out of the State of Michigan. Still we had Ken up a couple of years ago for a Brazilian Jiujitsu seminar (which was excellent) and he pulled out the Kettlebells and showed a number of different techniques to work with. Currently I am working very basic stuff but seeing significant results!
