Okay I am just back from Chicago the Windy City! Personally I love to travel and see different places. Chicago and the surrounding Chicagoland has to be one of my favorite places to go and have a fun weekend. There is so much to see and do from the Field History Museum, Aquarium, Sports, Shopping, Zoo, etc. Those are just a few of the things that make Chicago special.
This weekend we went to Shedds Aquarium and enjoyed the different fish, turtles, etc. on display there. We especially enjoyed the beluga whales and the dolphin show. Heck the SpongeBob 3 D show was pretty awesome too.
Now when traveling I like to use the time to concentrate on specific things in relation to the martial sciences. One thing that I do is to stretch more and really focus on getting those muscles limber. This is done in a very relaxing manner (non ballistic stretching) and usually I am watching TV while doing so. Another thing I like to do when traveling is to either visit a local Training Hall or have someone from the local Training Hall visit me at the hotel I am staying at for some training. This is always a way for myself to sample some of the local martial arts scene and get in a good workout. Through the years I have done this all over the United States and also in several parts of the world. Since Martial Artists in general love to share, this type of training has always been a joy. In the past I have worked out doing this in a variety of systems including Kenpo, Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, Budo Taijutsu, Kalaripayattu, Hapkido, Judo, Greco-Roman Wrestling, Jeet Kune Do, Silat, Brazilian Jiujitsu and oh so many more. So before going to Chicago I spoke with a local Training Hall and one of their instructors was free to give me a good workout at the hotel. This type of training sometimes costs more but in my opinion it is well worth it! So next time you are on vacation or even just a weekend jaunt away from home look up a local Training Hall and see if you cannot get a class or private lesson in. This way you will really enjoy your time!
See You On The Mats!
