Hiking Lone Mountain!

One of the coolest things about being out west is the great hiking opportunities right in your backyard!  The other day we hiked Lone Mountain which is the one mountain in Vegas that kind’ve stands apart from the rest that circle Vegas.  Lone Mountain has decent elevation and is challenging enough because of the loose rock.  It is also by and large friendly and takes just a few hours or so to do.  Hiking is a great way to maintain fitness and to challenge yourself as a martial practitioner.  Loose footing, going uphill and down all put rigors on the body that could aid your fitness, coordination and more.  Couple it with an element of danger ie. sheer thousand or more foot drops and you can also get the adrenaline going!  So when you get a chance go on a hike whether on a mountain, woods, etc.  Who knows what you will see and one thing is for sure you will be getting exercise and fresh air.  This last lone mountain hike was aided by Michael Blackgrave’s walking sticks which are exceptional.  If you want the best then contact Mike over at facebook and I am sure he can set you up!

Walking is also using our bodies in one of the ways it was designed and intended to work and be used…

While weight training and dedicated exercises are great — I personally think that it’s also important to work and use our bodies “as nature intended.” You don’t get the problems caused by unequal/unbalanced development that you sometimes see in people today.

Absolutely Jim I could not agree more!
