I showed up to work today and was on the board to teach Defensive Tactics.  Topics covered were Movement, Personal Weapons, Escort, Handcuffing and Search Incident To Arrest, Weapon Retention and Weapon Disarms.  Law Enforcement DT’s are essential and having regular refresher courses are very important.  My advice to any Law Enforcement personnel is to constantly train so that you master your department’s DT’s.  There is a saying that you need to practice something ten thousand times before you are proficient at it.  Put that practice in so that you will be proficient and able to use the skill sets.  Plus seek out additional training so that your skill sets are at a high level because we work in potentially violent situations.  Train, train and train some more!  So that in the moment you are prepared!
